UN Declaration on Human Rights Defenders turns 20
It was in 1998 when the Human Rights community adopted the Declaration on Human Rights Defenders (HRDs). One way to comply with the mandate of this declaration, is recognising the importance of the work done by Defenders from their community, for their community. For over 35 years, PBI has worked to support the commitments made by the UN Declaration on Human Rights Defenders. We take this opportunity to recognise the vital work of HRDs around the world to promote and protect all of our Human Rights through a series of activities which will take place throughout Europe during September-October 2018.
PBI will organise a series of activities that will bring together HRDs from around the world to exchange experiences on security, risk analysis and self-care; dialogue with key international actors and participate in advocacy activities in Brussels and other European countries.
With these activities, PBI seeks to support and recognise the vital work of HRDs by giving them a space where they can present their struggles to different stakeholders and exchange experiences, tools and knowledge with other defenders.
