The Indonesia Project partners with human rights defenders as well as organizations which deal with issues pertaining to human rights. The aim of the project is to help develop and strengthen the capacities of local organizations. We don't just restrict our work to our partners though, we also try to form links between civil society NGO's and Government bodies. Through such work PBI tries to facilitate a space in which conflict transformation can occur in the areas we work in.
The Indonesia Project has a number of partners who range from local grassroots organizations, individual human rights investigators and defenders through to religious groups. PBI reviews the contracts we hold with our Indonesian partners on a bi-annual basis. In the event that the level of threats to an individual or an organization is perceived to be negligible the partner has the option of not renewing their contracts. A number of these former partners maintain a Rapid Response Agreement with PBI which allows PBI to react in the event that their security situation deteriorates. The individuals and organizations found below have such an agreement with the PBI Indonesia Project.
