Peace Brigades International (PBI) offers unarmed international protective accompaniment to human rights activists, refugees, and communities threatened with violence. The support for the work is carried out by members and supporters around the world, including those in PBI/Aotearoa.

2005 saw us fundraising for the Indonesia Project's renewed work in Aceh. With the generosity of many we raised nearly $NZ3,000 to help the re-establishment of a PBI team in Aceh following the tsunami at the end of 2004.

In 2006 our main focus was on the newest PBI Project established in Nepal. Lucy Mathieson of Wellington has joined the team in Nepal, and we will be sharing reports of the work from her.

Testimony
"I've never looked back. The work with PBI has been very enriching, very unique, exceptional, an experience. It’s taught me many things, has made me feel many things, at times frustrating, other times fulfilled and I have grown wiser and more knowledgeable as a person. I’ve built some beautiful relationships and have been amazed and moved by the passion and motivation of the human rights defenders we accompany."
