In 1994 the NAP team spent a week in Cape Croker, talking with people to understand the background to the situation. This is NAP volunteer Martin Fisher, from Switzerland, on a wharf after going out on the bay in a Nawash fishing boat.

In March 1995, NAP was asked to attend a conference organized by the Nawash on fisheries policy. NAP was requested to come as non-partisan reporters and observers. The conference was attended by representatives of First Nations, the Ministry of Natural Resources, and non-native commercial and sport fishers, who discussed the state of the fisheries and what the fisheries policy should be in light of the court decision.
