This is another blockade by the Innu of Mani-Utenam. Their name for themselves is "Innu" which means people. Their name for their land is Nitassinan, which means "our land". There are approx. 12,000 Innu living on this land, which is about the size of France, and located within the provinces of Quebec and Labrador.

Innu living in Labrador face several different issues to those living in Quebec. The North America Project has also sent teams to Davis Inlet - known as Utshimassits to the Innu - and to Sheshashiu.
